Terms of Service for Lancity

Please read these Terms of Service (“Terms”, “Terms of Service”) carefully before using the https://lancity.co website (the “Service”) operated by Lancity Inc. (“us”, “we”, or “our”).

Your access to and use of the Service is conditioned on your acceptance of and compliance with these Terms. These Terms apply to all visitors, users, and others who access or use the Service.

By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you disagree with any part of the terms, then you may not access the Service.

1. Description of Service

Lancity is an educational technology platform designed to help users prepare for the CELPIP (Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program) exam. The Service includes AI-powered feedback (“Lancy”), study resources, live bootcamps, and community access.

Important Disclaimer: Lancity is an independent preparation tool. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Paragon Testing Enterprises (the administrators of CELPIP) or the Government of Canada.

2. Accounts and Registration

To use certain features of the Service, you must register for an account. By registering, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate, current, and complete information.

  • Maintain the security of your password and identification.

  • Accept all responsibility for any and all activities that occur under your account.

  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.

You may not share your account credentials with others. We reserve the right to terminate accounts that are suspected of being shared among multiple users.

3. Subscriptions and Billing

3.1 Paid Plans

Lancity offers subscription plans (e.g., Pro, Premium). By selecting a paid plan, you agree to pay the fees indicated at the time of purchase. All fees are in USD unless otherwise stated.

3.2 Recurring Billing

Subscription payments are collected on a recurring basis (monthly). By activating a subscription, you authorize us to charge your payment method automatically at the start of each billing period until you cancel.

3.3 Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time via your account settings. Your cancellation will take effect at the end of the current paid term. You will continue to have access to the Service until that date.

3.4 Refunds

Except when required by law, paid subscription fees are non-refundable. We do not provide refunds or credits for any partial subscription periods or unused content.

4. Artificial Intelligence and Grading

Our platform uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) to evaluate your Writing and Speaking tasks.

  • Estimates Only: The scores and feedback provided by “Lancy” are estimates based on our internal algorithms. They do not guarantee that you will receive the same score on the official CELPIP exam.

  • Accuracy: While we strive for high accuracy, AI technology is not infallible. We accept no liability for discrepancies between our AI grading and your actual exam results.

5. Intellectual Property

5.1 Our Content

The Service and its original content (including but not limited to the Lancity logo, “Lancy” character, study guides, bootcamp recordings, code, and text) are and will remain the exclusive property of Lancity Inc. and its licensors. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access this content for your personal, non-commercial study use only.

5.2 Your Content

You retain all rights to the audio recordings and text you submit to the platform for practice. However, by submitting content, you grant Lancity a worldwide, royalty-free license to use, process, and analyze said content to provide you with feedback and to improve our machine learning models (in accordance with our Privacy Policy).

6. User Conduct

You agree not to engage in any of the following prohibited activities:

  • Copying, distributing, or disclosing any part of the Service in any medium (including scraping).

  • Using any automated system (robots, spiders, etc.) to access the Service.

  • Attempting to interfere with or compromise the system integrity or security.

  • Uploading invalid data, viruses, worms, or other software agents.

  • Harassing, abusing, or harming another person in our community or bootcamp sessions.

7. No Guarantee of Results

Lancity is a tool to assist your study efforts. We make no representations or warranties regarding your ultimate success in the CELPIP exam or your immigration applications. Your results depend on your own effort, background knowledge, and test-day performance.

8. Limitation of Liability

In no event shall Lancity Inc., its directors, employees, partners, agents, suppliers, or affiliates, be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, including without limitation, loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from:

  • Your access to or use of or inability to access or use the Service;

  • Any conduct or content of any third party on the Service;

  • Any content obtained from the Service; and

  • Unauthorized access, use or alteration of your transmissions or content.

9. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of [Insert Jurisdiction, e.g., The Federal Republic of Nigeria OR Delaware, USA], without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

10. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to modify or replace these Terms at any time. If a revision is material, we will try to provide at least 30 days’ notice prior to any new terms taking effect. What constitutes a material change will be determined at our sole discretion.
